The Black Nautilus Skeleton Dial features a deep black brushed surface with polished beveled edges that catch light as the wrist moves. The brushed texture adds visual depth to the skeleton cutouts, where the NH70, NH71, or NH72 movement is visible beneath. Designed in-house by Nomods at 30.8 mm, this dial fits Seikonaut and Nautilus-style cases directly. The combination of matte brushing and polished edge chamfers gives the dial a layered, three-dimensional quality that flat-finished skeleton dials cannot match. C3 Super-LumiNova is applied to the hour markers for reliable glow in low light.

Note: This dial is made specifically for the NH72, with dial feet positioned for a direct fit into the movement. When using a grey spacer ring, the dial foot holes may be covered, so a small cutout in the spacer might be required. Feel free to reach out for quick and easy guidance.

Compatibility

Movements: NH70, NH71, and NH72 skeleton movements only. The brushed black surface frames the skeleton cutouts, and the polished edges draw attention to the movement visible through the openings. A non-skeleton movement like the NH35 or NH36 would show a solid rotor behind the cutouts, losing the layered visual effect.

Cases: Fits the Seikonaut Ultra-Thin Nautilus case directly at 30.8 mm. Also works in the Royal Oak 41 mm case with a spacer ring.

Hands: Any NH-series hands will fit. Silver or white hands offer strong legibility against the black surface, while black hands create a monochrome stealth look.

Compare dial sizes in our dial size guide: 28.5 mm vs 30.8 mm.

Designed by Nomods

This dial is part of the Nomods color skeleton series, designed in-house to push beyond simple flat-finished skeleton dials. The black brushed surface is created by directional brushing of the stainless steel base, then coating it with a deep black finish that preserves the brush texture underneath. The polished beveled edges along the cutout borders and outer rim are hand-finished to create a bright contrast line against the matte surface. This dual-texture approach gives the dial a sense of depth and craftsmanship that you can see in person.

Frequently Asked Questions

What movements fit this black skeleton dial?

The Seiko NH70, NH71, and NH72 skeleton movements. These have skeletonized plates and an open rotor that are visible through the dial’s cutouts, which is essential for the skeleton design to work visually.

Can I use an NH35 with this skeleton dial?

Not recommended. The NH35 and NH36 have non-skeletonized plates. Through the cutouts you would see solid metal instead of exposed movement architecture. Use an NH70, NH71, or NH72 for the intended effect.

What makes this different from the Black PVD Index dial?

The Black PVD Index dial has discrete silver-toned index markers with a matte PVD coating. This Black Color dial has a fully brushed black surface with polished beveled edges along the cutouts and outer rim. The brushed texture and polished chamfers give this version a more three-dimensional, layered appearance.
