Seiko Mod Dials
24 watch dials in two sizes: 28.5 mm for Royal Oak 37 mm and Petrichor cases, and 30.8 mm for Seikonaut / Nautilus Ultra-Thin and Royal Oak 41 mm cases. Choose from skeleton dials that expose the movement, polished index dials with applied markers, and textured waffle dials with a metallic finish. Skeleton dials require an NH70, NH71, or NH72 movement; solid and waffle dials work with NH35, NH36, and all other NH-series calibers.
Movement compatibility: Skeleton dials (cutout center) must be paired with NH70, NH71, or NH72 skeleton movements. Solid dials, index dials, and waffle dials work with any NH-series movement including NH35, NH36, NH38, and NH34 GMT.
Dial fit: 28.5 mm dials fit Royal Oak 37 mm V2 and Petrichor cases. 30.8 mm dials fit Seikonaut / Nautilus Ultra-Thin and Royal Oak 41 mm cases. Read the complete dial size guide before ordering.
Watch out: Dial size is the number one mistake new builders make. A 28.5 mm dial will not fit a 30.8 mm case opening and vice versa. Always confirm your case platform before choosing a dial.
How to Choose Your Dial
Size first — this is the most important decision: Measure your case or check the product listing. If you have a Royal Oak 37 mm V2 or Petrichor, you need a 28.5 mm dial. If you have a Seikonaut or Royal Oak 41 mm, you need a 30.8 mm dial. A wrong-size dial will not physically fit, and dials cannot be returned once the protective film is removed.
Skeleton vs. solid: Skeleton dials have an open center that reveals the movement’s balance wheel, gears, and bridges. They create a more mechanical, intricate look but require an NH70, NH71, or NH72 movement — standard NH35/NH36 movements have a solid rotor that looks unfinished through a skeleton cutout. Solid dials (index, waffle, sunburst) offer a cleaner, more traditional watch face and work with every movement in the lineup.
Color matching: For a cohesive build, match your dial finish to your case and hands. Silver dials pair naturally with silver and gunmetal cases. Gold and rose gold dials look best when the hands and case share the same tone. The waffle dials in Tiffany blue or army green are statement pieces that work best with neutral silver or black PVD cases.
Beginner recommendation: Start with a Nautilus Silver Index dial (30.8 mm, $32) paired with a Seikonaut case and NH35 movement, or a Waffle Blue dial (28.5 mm, $29) paired with a Royal Oak 37 mm V2 and NH35. Both combinations are straightforward builds with no skeleton movement required. Read the build guide for step-by-step instructions.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know whether I need a 28.5 mm or 30.8 mm dial?
It depends on your case. The Seikonaut / Nautilus Ultra-Thin and Royal Oak 41 mm cases use 30.8 mm dials. The Royal Oak 37 mm V2 and Petrichor cases use 28.5 mm dials. The two sizes are not interchangeable — a wrong-size dial will not fit. Our dial size guide explains everything with side-by-side photos.
Can I use a skeleton dial with an NH35 movement?
No. Skeleton dials have a cutout center designed to display the decorated bridges of NH70, NH71, or NH72 skeleton movements. An NH35 or NH36 has a solid rotor plate underneath that looks unfinished and unattractive through the cutout. Always pair skeleton dials with a skeleton movement, and solid or waffle dials with an NH35, NH36, or NH38.
What is the easiest dial for a beginner build?
A solid index dial paired with an NH35 movement is the most straightforward combination. For a 30.8 mm build, try the Nautilus Silver Index at $32. For a 28.5 mm build, the Waffle Blue at $29 is an affordable, eye-catching option. Both work with any standard NH movement and do not require a skeleton caliber.
Do the waffle dials have lume?
The waffle dials feature applied indices with C3 lume, so they do glow in the dark. The metallic waffle texture itself is not lumed, but the hour markers provide enough nighttime legibility for everyday wear. Pair with lumed hands for the best low-light readability.
