Introducing Our 37mm Royal Oak Seiko Modding Case

What is Seiko Modding?

Seiko modding and custom watch building have exploded in popularity in recent years. Why? Because it combines the art of watchmaking with limitless creativity. By choosing from a vast array of parts compatible with Seiko movements like the NH35 or NH72, you can craft a timepiece that’s truly yours. It’s not just about owning a watch—it’s about creating one, making your collecting journey as exciting as it is personal.

But there’s a challenge many of us face: the trend of oversized watches. For those of us with smaller wrists, the lack of compact, wrist-friendly cases has left us opting for bulky designs that don’t feel quite right. After plenty of research and a lot of tinkering, we decided it was time to address this gap ourselves. Enter the 37mm Royal Oak Seiko Modding Case, affectionately known as the Seikoak.

Why Royal Oak?

If you’ve browsed our site, you’ve likely picked up on two things we’re passionate about: skeleton watches and designs inspired by the legendary Gérald Genta.

The timeless elegance of Genta’s designs, like the Royal Oak, continues to captivate us. His revolutionary approach to watchmaking redefined the industry, proving that function and artistry could exist in perfect harmony. Taking inspiration from his work, we strive to create pieces that echo this balance.

We also draw inspiration from the bespoke craftsmanship of brands like Artisans de Genève, whose personalized designs elevate the Royal Oak into something truly unique. Their ability to reinterpret an already iconic timepiece motivates us to push the boundaries of what’s possible in watch customization.

At Nomods, our mission is to bring that same magic to your fingertips. We want to empower you to step into the shoes of a watchmaker, to experience the thrill of creating your own masterpiece. Whether you’re assembling a skeleton watch with an NH72 movement or crafting a design inspired by Genta’s innovations, we’re here to help you turn your vision into reality.

Why 37mm is the perfect size for Seiko Mods

We’ll be honest—37mm just felt right. Not too big, not too small, it’s the Goldilocks zone of proportions. Later, we realized this size perfectly complements the standard 28.5mm NH35 dials commonly used in Seiko modding. That means you’ll have a nearly endless selection of mod parts to pair with our case, opening up a world of creative possibilities.

The thinnest Seiko Modding case

While Lucius Aterlier beat us to it with their ultrathin cases (Only 10mm!) we are proud to have achieved an impressive thickness of just 11.2mm while maintaining 100M water resistance!

Seiko movements such as the NH36 are notoriously thick, and designing a slim, sleek case for Seiko’s movements is no small feat. The NH35 movement, with its thickness and tall hand stack, often leads to bulkier designs.

Our goal for the next iteration? To go even slimmer—possibly with a monocoque (single-piece) case to take the modding experience one step furhter.

Different types of crystals

To ensure you have options to suit your next project, we’ll offer this case with:

  • Blue AR Coating
  • Clear AR Coating (Coming soon)
  • No AR Coating

Whether you’re after vibrant reflections or a minimalist aesthetic, there’s something for everyone.

What’s Next?

Bringing this case to life hasn’t been easy. From failed prototypes to countless hours spent on 3D design, the journey has been challenging—but deeply rewarding. The feedback we’ve received has been overwhelming and motivates us to keep pushing boundaries.

At Nomods, our mission is to celebrate the greatest innovations in watchmaking and make them accessible to everyone through Seiko modding. The 37mm Royal Oak Seiko Modding Case is just the beginning.
