In a sea of homages and look-alikes, the Petrichor offers a fresh and distinctive foundation for your next Seiko mod. Heavily inspired by the best of 1970s horology, the case combines key design elements such as a domed sapphire crystal, oversized crown, and quick-adjustment buckle—balancing character, wearability, and function.

The Silver Petrichor is a Nomods original — not a homage to any existing watch, but a design language we developed from scratch. Inspired by the flowing curves of 1960s and 1970s vintage watchmaking, the Petrichor case features soft, organic lines that set it apart from the angular profiles dominating the mod scene. Machined from 316L stainless steel with a brushed silver finish, fitted with a domed sapphire crystal, and sized at 37 mm for a refined wrist presence. Compatible with NH35 and NH36 movements, this case is ready for your next build.

Movements: NH35 and NH36. The Petrichor is designed primarily for these two movements — unlike the Seikonaut case, which also accepts NH7x skeleton movements. If you plan to build a skeleton Petrichor, you will need the NH72 movement, which shares the same dimensions as the NH35.

Dials: 28.5 mm. Compatible with Royal Oak style dials, waffle dials, and other 28.5 mm dials designed for NH35-based builds.

Hands: Any NH-series compatible hands (hour 1.50 mm, minute 0.88 mm, seconds 0.20 mm).

What’s Included

  • Petrichor case body (316L stainless steel, brushed silver finish)
  • Domed sapphire crystal (pre-installed)
  • Crown (screw-down)
  • Gaskets (pre-installed)
  • Integrated stainless steel bracelet

Tools are not included. You will need a case opener, hand press, stem cutter, and movement holder for assembly.

Designed by Nomods

The Petrichor is our own design. We did not set out to replicate an existing watch — we wanted to create something that felt like it could have come from the golden era of case design in the 1960s and 1970s, when curves were generous and cases hugged the wrist. The domed sapphire crystal is central to this vision: instead of a tall, flat crystal sitting above a deep rehaut, the dome follows the case contour, keeping the overall profile slim. Every case is individually checked for finishing quality — brushing consistency, edge sharpness, and crystal seating — before shipping.

Frequently Asked Questions

What movements fit the Petrichor case?

The Petrichor is designed for the NH35 and NH36 movements. The NH72 skeleton movement also fits, as it shares the same external dimensions as the NH35. Other NH-series movements with the same footprint are compatible as well.

What dial size fits the Petrichor?

28.5 mm dials. This includes Royal Oak style dials, waffle dials, and other aftermarket 28.5 mm dials designed for NH35-based builds. Do not use 30.8 mm dials — they will not fit this 37 mm case.

Does the Petrichor fit NH72 or NH70 skeleton movements?

The NH72 fits because it shares the same case dimensions as the NH35. The NH70 also has the same footprint. However, the Petrichor was primarily designed and tested with the NH35 and NH36. For a skeleton build, the NH72 is the recommended choice.

Is the Petrichor a Royal Oak homage?

No. The Petrichor is an original Nomods design. It does not replicate the Royal Oak, Nautilus, or any other existing watch. The design draws inspiration from the broad aesthetic movement of 1960s and 1970s vintage watchmaking — an era defined by flowing curves and integrated case designs — but the Petrichor’s specific lines, proportions, and details are entirely our own.
