The Gold Petrichor captures the warmth and presence of vintage luxury watchmaking. This 37 mm case channels the golden era of the 1960s and 1970s, when watch design prioritized flowing curves over sharp angles. The gold PVD finish over 316L stainless steel gives the Petrichor a rich, warm tone that catches light across its curved surfaces. Fitted with a domed sapphire crystal and compatible with NH35 and NH36 movements, this is a Nomods original design — not a homage — built for modders who want something distinctive in their collection.

Compatibility

Movements: NH35 and NH36. The NH72 skeleton movement also fits because it shares the same external dimensions. A gold case paired with the NH72’s golden bridges creates a fully unified warm-toned skeleton build.

Dials: 28.5 mm. Gold cases pair naturally with champagne, gold, or white dials. A black dial creates a bold, high-contrast combination that emphasizes the gold frame.

Hands: Any NH-series compatible hands (hour 1.50 mm, minute 0.88 mm, seconds 0.20 mm). Gold hands maintain a monochromatic look; silver hands add a two-tone dimension.

What’s Included

  • Petrichor case body (316L stainless steel, gold PVD finish)
  • Domed sapphire crystal (pre-installed)
  • Crown (screw-down)
  • Gaskets (pre-installed)
  • Integrated stainless steel bracelet (gold PVD)

Tools are not included. You will need a case opener, hand press, stem cutter, and movement holder for assembly.

Designed by Nomods

The Gold Petrichor is where our original case design meets vintage warmth. Gold-tone watches dominated the 1960s and 1970s, and the Petrichor’s curves were drawn with that era in mind. The gold PVD coating is applied via Physical Vapor Deposition for durability that outlasts traditional plating. On the Petrichor’s rounded surfaces, the gold finish creates a continuous gradient of light and shadow rather than the flat gleam you get on angular cases. The domed sapphire adds to this effect — it rounds off the top of the watch, so the entire profile reads as one smooth, warm shape. Each case is inspected for PVD uniformity and finishing consistency before it ships.

Frequently Asked Questions

What movements fit the Petrichor case?

The NH35 and NH36 movements. The NH72 skeleton movement also fits, sharing the same physical dimensions. A gold Petrichor paired with an NH72 creates a cohesive golden skeleton build, since the NH72’s bridges have a natural warm-gold tone.

What dial size fits the Petrichor?

28.5 mm dials. Royal Oak style dials, waffle dials, and other 28.5 mm aftermarket dials designed for NH35 builds. Do not use 30.8 mm dials — they are too large for the 37 mm Petrichor case.

Will the gold PVD finish hold up over time?

PVD coating is far more durable than traditional gold plating. It resists normal daily wear, desk contact, and minor bumps. Sharp impacts against hard surfaces can leave marks, exposing the steel beneath. Use soft-jaw tools during assembly to protect the finish.

Is the Petrichor a Royal Oak homage?

No. The Petrichor is an original design by Nomods. It takes inspiration from the broad aesthetic of 1960s and 1970s vintage watchmaking but does not replicate any specific watch. The case shape, curves, and proportions are unique to the Petrichor.
